Chris Ramsey has one reservation about throwing Joey Barton back into the first-team after his red card against Hull and that is whether he can shake off a knock he picked up in training.
The midfielder was dismissed for a below-the-belt punch on Hull's Tom Huddlestone as QPR crashed to a defeat on Humberside.
Barton missed defeats against Arsenal, Tottenham and Crystal Palace but is in line for a recall as long as he can prove his fitness.
Ramsey said: “Believe it or not, Joey has been tearing about and he's actually got a knock so apart from the fact that he's available for Sunday, he's got a knock.
“He's chomping at the bit to be involved at Everton on Sunday. I can't say that until closer to the game and in some respects, because of that, it's worked out better for us the game is on Sunday."
Barton picked up seven yellow cards in seven games before his red but this does not concern Ramsey one bit.
He added: “I've got no hesitancy at all. A lot of the times I haven't got the luxury for the other bits that go with it. If we were mid-table we could relax a bit more I could think about the bits more. I've got to think every weekend what XI can I put out there that will perform to their best.
“I wish I had the luxury of it being Everton and this and that. He's been really good around the place and in the time he's not been available he's done extra training.
“He was going to play in the U21s but he got a knock in the game. He was out running yesterday. Hopefully his cardiovascular fitness will be strong enough to last on Sunday if chosen.
“If he’s selected, one thing we do know is that he’s not going to leave anything out there. We’re hoping that situation doesn’t happen again because we do need him.”
