QPR are inching towards a better place thanks to resolve and character - says Jamie Mackie.

It was these two massive ingredients he believes got them 2-1 wins twice in three days to bring relief to a Rangers at the wrong end of the table.

Mackie is back in the team after injury, and is a bit too canny to predict a massive turnaround - but insists the dressing room is a great place to be.

“What we have shown in the last couple of fixtures is we have got a lot of resolve and character so that is a base for us and now we can work on playing some better stuff," he added.

The first back-to-back league wins since August against Wolves and Ipswich either side of new year have helped lift some of the gloom at Loftus Road.

R for roar: Joel Lynch is reasonably pleased

While it may be too soon to talk about having turned a corner, Mackie believes it has brought breathing space and a foundation to build on.

“It's a cruel league so we are not going to get carried away after two wins as we need to put a solid run together," he added.

“But back-to-back wins is massive and we are delighted after the kind of pressure we have been under.

“The lads believe in what the new manager wants to do and the style of football we all want to get to and that always takes time.

Successive wins have stopped the rot brought about by the six successive defeats which preceded them.

Understandably, it has brought a different mood music among the players and Mackie knows it is vital to cash in on that rediscovered winning feeling.

Pole position: Pawel Wszolek scores the winner against Ipswich

“We want to start getting in the habit of winning,” he added.

“We have lost too many football matches of late and winning is a habit too.

“The feeling in the dressing-room now among the lads is unbelievable and you can’t buy that.”
