Chances are Keith Stroud won’t be getting a Christmas card from QPR anytime soon.

The referee denied Hoops a penalty when Junior Hoilett was tumbled in the box in the second half as Rs attempted to claw back a 1-0 deficit.

Head coach Chris Ramsey was adamant it was a spot kick - and reckoned in the face of mounting criticism that his side was getting better despite two 1-0 defeats on the spin.

“I think we’ve been very, very hard done by,” he said.

“They only had two shots, one on which they scored, and and we silenced their crowd for most of the game.

“We also had a few shots ourselves. And we didn’t get the rub of the green, and we had a shout for a penalty we didn’t get.

“Sometimes the officials have got to be brave even in front of a home crowd.

“When you defend from the front you’ve got a chance - and we did.

There were players in the changing roomy sitting there thinking how did we lose that game?”

The men in black also failed to spot what looked like a handball leading up to André Weimann’s 51st minute strike that settled the game.

Ramsey expained: “You expect to get a free-kick when someone handles the ball to set it up for their goal that proved to be the winner.

“We’re improving all the time, and if we play like that Saturday against Preston, we haven’t got a problem.”
