Charlie Austin has got it tough at the moment - according to QPR team-mate Clint Hill.

The £15m striker literally doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going, and the other scorer in the 2-2 draw against Cardiff on Saturday has loads of sympathy for his pal.

Hill headed down and in for 1-0.

The defender’s hand then steered the ball into Austin’s chest to double the advantage, but Cardiff hit back when honest Hill admitted he lost his marker, and then watched as Hoops suffered a gutting last-minute equaliser.

The 36-year-old believes the sooner Rs know their squad beyond September 1 when the transfer window closes, the better for everyone.

“Every day Charlie seems to be going or staying - and it could come down to the last day of the transfer window,” Hill explained.

It's in! Clint Hill for 1-0

“He’s in a difficult situation, and in the press every day and a lot in attention on him, and he doesn’t quite what the future’s going to be. It is unsettling for him, but hopefully while he’s here he’ll bang a few more in for us.

“If he does leave us tomorrow, he’s still done brilliantly for us.”

Rs are a work in progress, says Hill, who believes a whole new group of players will take time to gel.

Should he stay or should he go? Austin (L)

“It’s going to be difficult; a whole new group of players and some that might go, and I think we need to strengthen, and then readjust and kick on from there," he added.

“We’re going to be a scalp just like Burnley and teams will raise their game 10 or 20 percent as we found two years ago when we came down.”

Rangers are back in action on Wednesday searching for a first win of the season when they take on Wolves away.
