QPR will give a full debut to Hammersmith-born Reece Grego-Cox at Leicester on Sunday – and the chances are Darnell Furlong will also swell the Rs youth ranks from the start.

Rangers will be without seven major players for the season’s finale – but Ramsey has one eye on the future in a meaningless game.

Leicester are safe, Rangers are down, and the newly appointed head coach wants the new crop to step up and cement a place for next season.

Future hope: Darnell Furlong (C)

“It’s likely Reece will start because Bobby (Zamora) is still injured,” Ramsey added. “It’s likely they could both start."

The coach was wary of throwing them both into a do-or-die clash with Manchester City two weeks ago for fear he would destroy youthful confidence against the former champions.

Now, however, they’ve got to sink or swim.

“It’s important they get a taste of big stadiums and feel what it’s like,” Ramsey added.

“Protecting them is important, but at some stage you have to put them in the deep end.

Furlong appears set for a start because centre back Steven Caulker has finally given way to a broken hand, he sustained in the 2-1 defeat at Liverpool.

Keeper Rob Green has not recovered fully from concussion he suffered in the 2-1 win over Newcastle last week (see gallery), and Sandro’s ongoing work permit problems prevents the ex-Spurs midfielder making an appearance.

Loanees Mauricio Isla and Eduardo Vargas are also out of the picture. Rio Ferdinand is spared as he continues to recover from the death of his wife.
