QPR midfielder Ryan Manning has described his whirlwind five months at the club since breaking into the first-team fold.

The 20-year-old from Galway, Ireland, signed for the club in January 2015 and made his senior debut for the club on December 31 last year, and the youngster admitted he didn't anticipate what would happen next.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "When i went home at Christmas i had no thoughts that I'd make 18 appearances between now and the end of the season, so to get that many has just been amazing for me.

QPR keeper Alex Smithies says the club have 'underachieved' given the talent in their side

"I hadn't played in the Championship so to come that far in four or five months is a great confidence boost and i feel good going into pre-season that i can play a big part in next year's campaign.

"Hopefully next year we can be competing at the right end of the Championship rather than fighting in a relegation battle."
