QPR need a manager with Championship experience to deal with the league's distinctive character.

That seemed to be the hint from caretaker boss Neil Warnock after yesterday's 1-0 win over Leeds , possibly the veteran manager's last in charge.

Warnock advised he is not a part of recruitment process for the vacancy expected to be filled shortly, but his comment with regard to the particular nature of Championship football suggests if he were he would favour a Nigel Pearson type appointment to that of the current bookmaker's favourite Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink , who is yet to manage at that level.

Bookies' fave: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

"The Championship is unique league and it is not an easy one for a manager, so they will have to take quite a lot into consideration when they make an appointment," he said.

Whoever gets the nod eventually Warnock is hopeful the new man will benefit from another unique feature of life with Rangers, namely the atmosphere generated within the tight confines of Loftus Road, when its fans are in full throat as they were in the latter stages on Saturday.

"It is a special place Loftus Road," he added. "I know it is only the Championship, but when it gets going like it did in the last 20 minutes with the decibel level it is a fabulous arena for a manager."
