Emotions are set to be running high this afternoon as the QPR welcome their greatest ever player back to West London one last time.

Club legend Stan Bowles lit up Loftus Road during his seven years at the club, and was renowned for his ability to change a game in the blink of an eye.

Seen as one of the game’s greatest maverick’s, Bowles delighted and frustrated his team-mates in equal measure, but no-one could argue what he brought to the team on the field during his 315 appearances in West London.

To see such a character suffering like he is now is heartbreaking, and all of football will be looking to express their appreciation as he makes his way out onto the Loftus Road pitch one final time.

It is only right to honour the man with the show of appreciation he deserves.

Of course we must not forget the importance of matters on the field as Ian Holloway’s men face their last friendly before the start of the new season.

Having had ample opportunity to examine the depth of his squad, we can expect today’s line-up to closely resemble the team who will line up against Reading in just seven days time.

Bournemouth will provide extremely tough opposition, and will be buoyed by their summer recruitment which has seen the likes of Asmir Begovic, Nathan Ake and Jermain Defoe join Eddie Howe’s exciting south coast side.

It’s bound to be a game of flair and excitement; a rather fitting tribute to the man who will be the centre of attention.
