Queens Park Rangers lost 2-1 against Aston Villa at Loftus Road this afternoon.

Jamie Mackie put Ian Holloway's side ahead in the first half after 17 minutes, but Albert Adomah deservedly equalised for the visitors on the stroke of half-time from the penalty spot.

And the winger won it for Villa early on in the second half with a shot in off the far post after a storming run.

With our QPR club writer Phil Spencer away this weekend, Digital Football Writer Mark Ritson covered today's clash and has given his full-time player ratings.

Check them out below!

Alex Smithies - Pulled off great saves to deny Josh Onomah and Keinan Davis in the first half. No chance saving Adomah's penalty for the equaliser. Did all he could to keep Villa at bay but was well beaten early on for Adomah's second half strike. 7

Alex Baptiste - Always going to be a tough test up against the tricky Adomah, who had a fine game. Used as much experience but his opponent made him work. 5

Joel Lynch - Satisfactory first period, but a lapse in concentration nearly allowed Villa a third in the second period. Did make some interceptions, though. 5

Jake Bidwell - Certainly has his work cut out at times against the creative Snodgrass. Battled hard as the game went on to keep the Scotsman quiet. 6

Jack Robinson - A good test up against the lively Davis in the first period. Didn't do much wrong, but didn't stand out much either. 5

Jordan Cousins - He looked bright with some neat touches and always available for a pass. But he faded in the second half and was taken off. 5

Josh Scowen - Started well but faded in the first half. Hardly got into the game really. 4

Massimo Luongo - Looked a bit tired and didn't really get going in the opening 45 minutes. 4

Luke Freeman - Assist for the opening goal, with his corner causing all sorts of trouble before Mackie bundled home. He looked really good in the second half with some driving runs and passes. 8

Jamie Mackie - Scrappy opener but they all count - and he loved it. However, that's all he really did all game and was taken off for Sylla in the second half. 6

Matt Smith - Put himself about, even out wide at times. So unlucky shooting inches wide of the far post when it was 1-1. Had a header straight at Johnstone late on. 7

Substitutes

Conor Washington - Striker came on after Villa had taken the lead, replacing Cousins. He made an effort and used his pace when played in. 6

Ryan Manning - The youngster came on for Luongo at half-time. Hardly any impact. 3

Idrissa Sylla - The striker replaced Mackie with around 20 minutes to go, as QPR looked for an equaliser. Did nothing. 3
