Tim Sherwood is the hot favourite to take over at QPR following Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's sacking.

In fact, it's the second time the former Spurs boss has been the name in the frame at Loftus Road.

Sherwood was fancied for the role when Harry Redknapp called time on his own reign in February 2105. Instead, the Tottenham connection took a new twist when academy coach and former White Hart Lane stalwart Chris Ramsey stepped up.

Co-incidentally, Ramsey got the shove after a defeat to Brentford and a lack-lustre performance at an east Midlands club. Ring any bells? GWL wonders if the irony of sacking managers for the same reasons at exactly the same time of year rung any bells with the Rs bord.

So what does one get if Sherwood takes the reins. GWL has got expert advice from those that know the f ormer Aston Villa and Tottenham boss.

'You don't want to cross swords with Tim Sherwood'

The first thing we were told is the 47-year-old doesn't suffer fools gladly. Normally, straight talking, anyone who doesn't deal with him the same way or shirks a shift had better watch out.

Are there players at Rangers currently who might need a few harsh reminders?

The money doesn't matter

Sherwood and QPR backed away from each other in early 2015 because the manager wanted something akin to a Premier League salary as well as guarantees over a budget to spend on players.

That's why Rangers went in-house with Ramsey knowing they were headed in a different direction.

Sherwood's been out of management for a year now, and is understood to be willing to work with what he's given if appointed.

Better the devil you know

Rangers know all about Tim Sherwood, or rather director of football Les Ferdinand does.

He, the hot candidate and Chris Ramsey were as thick as thieves at Tottenham, and forged an excellent understanding that brought on the likes of Harry Kane.

Rangers want their own young talent to be given a chance.

Sherwood will play a more attacking set up if he gets the QPR gig

These stats from our colleagues at the Birmingham Mail are very interesting. Even at a struggling Aston Villa, Sherwood brought an increasing goal ratio on the manager he succeeded, Paul Lambert.

He had fewer draws, and his attacking intent is made very clear in the figures.

Hasselbaink was lambasted for his dour tactics that led to a record number of draws last season, insisting one up front and a number 10 in behind was the way forward.

The Rs management clearly disagreed.

Like Neil Warnock before him - Sherwood is something of a man motivator

It's what Rangers need right now. They looked rudderless against Brentford last week, and increasingly so against Nottingham Forest.

The City Ground side are no world beaters either - and Hoops need a bit more carrot and stick to get the best out of them.
