DWIGHT Gayle is on the QPR radar after his club Peterborough was relegated from the Championship on Saturday.
The 22-year-old’s star has shot skywards since he joined Posh in November from Dagenham & Redbridge, a deal ratified for £500,000 in the January transfer window.
Hoops would have to better that. But buoyed by the likely sale of three stars worth more than £20 million and a £20m parachute payment after their relegation, signing youth is the name of the game for Rangers, according to chairman Tony Fernandes (pic).
The Rs supremo wants a squad built around youth mixed in with a sprinkling of experience.
And boss Harry Redknapp picked up the mantle by watching Gayle in the 3-2 defeat by Crystal Palace before racing back to take charge of Rangers against Arsenal.
Redknapp added: “I was at Palace and I want to get to as many play-off games as possible.
“I was at Palace because there were a few players in that game that have been flagged up to me.”
