QPR have thrashed out a £1.2 million deal to take Joel Lynch from Huddersfield Town to west London.

The left-sided central defender and Rs have to thrash out personal terms, but a signing is imminent - and not before time in a position that's become number one priority at Loftus Road.

Loanee Gabriele Angella has returned to Watford. Clint Hill has moved to Glasgow Rangers, and Stephen Caulker is unlikely to return permanently.

It demands a natural partner for player-of-the-year Grant Hall, if Nedum Onuoha resumes at right-back in August.

Here are a five things about the man capped once for Wales.

He serves breakfast to disadvantaged school kids

Lynch was last season's Community Player of the Year at Huddersfield. He won the award as a result of volunteering for a Town charity that serves breakfast to needy kids in the area.

This was no PR stunt. Lynch did all the work off his own back.

Lynch scores spectacular goals

The trouble is he doesn't score as many as one hope - only five in the last two campaigns. But when he does find the back of the net - he does it in glorious fashion. Note this one against Charlton.

The last in such fashion was an audacious overhead against Watford two seasons ago.

He reads the game well - and just as importantly, knows how to stay out of trouble

Lynch may have picked up eight yellow cards last term in 40 appearances - but none of them were red. The same for season 2014/15: seven yellows, no dismissals.

He's blessed with blistering pace

Our colleagues at the Huddersfield Daily Examiner will testify to that. "He has oceans of speed," said Head of Sport Mel Booth. "Rangers won't have problems in that department if he's at the back."

Friendly and approachable - Lynch always has time for fans

"He's no show pony, always changing his hair style like a lot of modern footballers. He's down to earth, approachable and friendly - and should be popular at QPR," added Booth.
