Queens Park Rangers striker Matt Smith expects a few new players to arrive at Loftus Road this summer, but does think the current squad haven't been far off in matches in recent matches.

During their six-game run of defeats before beating Nottingham Forest, they were beaten by the odd goal in five of those.

Indeed, Rangers weren't heavily beaten by the likes of Derby County, Aston Villa, Brighton and Bristol City.

And Smith admitted he's never witnessed being part of side who have been narrowly beaten so often in his career so far.

"While it has been a disappointing end given where we were before the international break, we have to take the positives," he told Get West London.

"We haven't really been blown away by in the recent games, it's only been one goal before the Brentford defeat.

"Even in that game I thought we were very good in large parts. I have never really been in a team where it's just been such fine margins every week in terms of when we've lost.

"I don't think I have really experienced that before in my career, but it is also a good sign as we're not been blown away by teams by any means.

"The management will look at the personnel now and they'll probably think we do need to strengthen in a few areas and get different bits of quality in.

"Grant Hall is a big player for us and he's missing, you only have to look at the results to see how much we've missed him in the last few games.

"But we probably need to strengthen in a few areas and there's plenty of positive signs, from a QPR player, and that's really pleasing."
