QPR plan to offer a new deal to star striker Charlie Austin.

The ex-bricklayer has smashed five goals in as many games and took his tally to seven for the season with Saturday's winner against Leicester City.

Austin is approaching the last 18 months of his contract at Loftus Road and has been linked with top-flight rivals Tottenham and Liverpool.

But boss Harry Redknapp said: "I'm sure everyone wants to keep Charlie here and I'm sure Tony Fernandes and Phil Beard will be sitting down talking to him.

"He is going well at the moment, but he needs to keep doing well. It's early in the season and will be judged at the end.

“He's a player that needs to get 20 goals-a-season. He is capable of that, the way he's playing. He's a great lad and I'm sure he is very happy here.

"We have not had any enquiries from anybody else as far as I know. He's only played a dozen games in the Premier League, there is still a long way to go.

"He knows that. He's improving week by week. He is full of confidence and is happy here."
