Whoever gets the QPR job, James Perch does not intend to lose sleep over whether or not he will be a manager's favourite.

Having battled to establish himself on the right of Rangers' rearguard, the summer signing from Wigan would perhaps be only human in contemplating whether the new incumbent to the hot seat at Loftus Road was going to make him a similar part of his plans.

However, the now 30-year-old has journeyed this way enough times in football not to be threatened by such circumstances, insisting you have to be responsible for the things you can control and not worry about the things you can't.

Current favourite: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

"If you spend time thinking is the new manager going to like me then you haven't been in the game long enough," he said.

"I've been in this situation a few times, especially at Nottingham Forest and I've had plenty of managers in the past. All I can do is what I can do and it is the same for all the rest of the lads.

"It is about the managers opinion at the end of the day. It is his decision and if he chooses not to play you then you have to take it."

Caretaker: Perch has been handed a chance under Warnock

Despite backing himself to catch the new boss' eye Perch is candid enough to admit he has yet to show his best in a hoops' shirt.

"I'd be honest and openly say I've not had the best start to my QPR career having been sent off and booked a few times," he added.

"But Neil (Warnock) has come in and played me and I've had a couple of alright performances. I look at myself and I'm honest enough to know I'm not a world beater, but I'll keep doing my best to get getter."
