QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo has spoken of his excitement ahead of Australia's World Cup play-off against Honduras.

The Socceroos are 180 minutes away from a place in next summer's showpiece event in Russia, and the 25-year-old says that the experience of playing against Syria was unlike any he'd had before.

Speaking to GetWestLondon, he said: "It's going to be a good one. The Syria games, wow they were exciting!

"They were my first play-off leg experience in any competition and it was a good one.

"It was a good feeling coming off after two games with a victory. You come off after one, and you've still got another one to go, so you can't celebrate the win or anything like that so it's such a different experience to anything I've had, but the game is about experiences like that."

After overcoming the double-header with Syria, the Socceroos now face a stern test in the shape of Honduras, and Luongo is hoping that the travel in between games could make the difference.

He said: "I think it'll be tough. We've got to go away for the first one and the second game is at home which I think will benefit us with the travel and stuff like that.

"We get teams a little bit on the travel, because it's so far and such a quick turnaround and we're so professional with it. We do all the right things, we spend a lot of money in the sports science department to make sure that we're at it every game and the set-up is really good.

"We'll bring it home to Sydney and hopefully we can see ourselves through."
