Queens Park Rangers stopper Alex Smithies admits he’ll be hoping to do his old club Huddersfield Town a play-off favour when the Hoops travel to Leeds United on Saturday.

Both Yorkshire sides occupy the play-off positions in the Championships, with Leeds three points behind Huddersfield, who have a game in hand.

Smithies will be doing all he can to help his old club, but insists the main focus is on getting the Hoops all three points on the back of their recent good form.

“We’re on the back of a good run with four wins in five, so there is no pressure on us going into the game this weekend,” he said.

“We can sort of play our way and work hard, and hopefully spoil their day. Hopefully I can help out my old club Huddersfield (in the play-offs), but every game is big for us.

“We want to push right up the table and end the season on a high, so whoever we play we want to win.”
