QPR goalkeeper Matt Ingram has made quite an impression since arriving at Northampton Town on loan in August.

The 23-year-old stopper has made seven appearances for the Cobblers since joining from the Hoops, conceding just six goals; despite the team conceding 10 in just four games before his arrival.

We caught up with James Heneghan from the Northampton Chronicle to get the latest on how Ingram is getting on, to which we received some glowing feedback.

Discussing his form since arriving at Sixfield, he said: "I'm very impressed. I think everyone has been impressed by his performances and his all-round play.

Matt Ingram

"Before he came in Northampton had a couple of inexperienced keepers on their books who have potential but aren't convincing so we needed an experienced goalkeeper. I know he's young but he's played a lot of games and he knows this level well.

""He's such a good influence on the team, and what's most impressive is how decisive and assured he is; he's always quick off his line and must be a dream for the back four knowing they have a keeper behind them who they can trust, and I think that's had a big impact on the team.

The goalkeeping position was a bit of a worry before Ingram came in because the other goalkeepers don't have that experience and authority that you'd want, but you can tell that with Ingram he's very sure of himself and his own game, he knows his strengths and his decisiveness is the key word because that's been what stands out about his performances.

"He's been a big presence over the last few weeks. He's such a solid all-round keeper that he just looks assured in everything he does. He made a magnificent save against Rotherham on Saturday, and shot-stopping isn't something we've seen a lot of from him, but Rotherham forced him into action quite a lot and he made one unbelievable and many other great saves and was given man of the match on the day."

When asked about how good Ingram could be, Heneghan said: "I think Ingram can be a really good keeper. He's 23 which is a really young age for a goalkeeper for they typically peak in their late twenties early thirties even, he's got so much time and potential for improvement.

"He can 100% be a regular Championship goalkeeper, and maybe even more than that."
