QPR have been forced to add an emergency defender to their shopping list after injury to right-back Danny Simpson.

The ever-present right-back has been laid low with a back injury and with precious few purpose-built players in that position, Rangers are ready to turn attention to West Ham defender Jordan Spence who can also play central defence.

The 23-year-old is back from a loan spell at MK Dons, and before that at Sheffield Wednesday and could be asked to plug a very big gap until Simpson recovers.

Harry said: “We’re looking at a striker and maybe another defender.”

Serie A forward Ishak Belfodil has reportedly arrived in west London for loan talks in a bid to augment the firing line, but QPR’s manager played down talks concerning Stevie May at St Johnstone and former Hoops favourite, Peter Crouch.

Redknapp added: “Belfodil is a player we’re interested in, but Peter? That’s unrealistic. He's in at the team at Stoke and we've made no enquiries for him.

"However, we do need to get another defender in as well.”
