QPR are pulling out of their money-spinning summer tour of Korea – and it has nothing to do with whether they keep Park Ji-sung.

Chairman Tony Fernandes has binned the lucrative visit and the potential for even bigger Asian earnings that follow as a result of the club’s relegation on Sunday.

Part of the deal was midfielder Park (pic) and Korean teammate Yun Suk-young would play in friendlies between July 16-25. But the chances are the former Manchester United midfielder will have moved on in a summer clear out by then.

Fernandes reckons Rangers ‘brand recognition’ is up and running in Korea and wants any preparation for next season to be much closer to home.

He said: “The tour is not going to happen.

“There’s been enough brand building and marketing which we’ve done well – but we’ve failed miserably on the pitch and I think we should stay in Europe.

“People in Korea still want to do it (regardless of whether Park is still at QPR). But tours distract, and we want players and management to stay in this time zone and focus entirely on rebuilding the squad.”
