QPR are odds-on to secure Tim Ream from Bolton after director of football Les Ferdinand burned the midnight oil last night.

Head coach Chris Ramsey revealed Rs were inching ahead of Fulham in the race to win the battle for the coveted USA defender.

A fee of £1.75m has been agreed between Hoops and Bolton, with a £250k add-on should Rangers bounce back to the Premier League.

"I think it will go through," Ramsey claimed. "There’s a negotiation period, and as a manager you do get a bit jittery.

"If you want the player, the player has the upper hand, but in our situation no one can have the upper hand because we’re dictated to by the finances we’ve got.

“I know Les was bargaining hard last night trying to get it done, and it won’t be from the want of trying if it doesn’t get done.

“There’s a few other people we’ve looked at as well, if needs be."
