Jordan Cousins has been ruled out of QPR's trip to Reading after a thigh injury, Ian Holloway has confirmed.

The former Charlton man has had a string of injuries in recent weeks and has suffered another setback in training at the club's Harlington base.

And Holloway is concerned at the amount of niggling injuries Cousins has picked up since joining QPR last summer.

He said: “Jordan Cousins got injured yesterday. He has had a thigh tear or strain and that doesn't look good at all. Is it just that as the other day it was his hamstring. Is there a misalignment of him somewhere – we've got to get to the bottom of it.

Chair man: Ian Holloway shouts instructions

“I'm devastated for the boy. I was trying to save him for this game. He was part of where I was going to do things and he limped off.”

There had been rumours Cousins could have returned to Charlton to regain form with the club that made him a favourite, but Holloway quashed that saying: “He wouldn't have gone out anywhere anyway – not at all.”

Elsewhere, Darnell Furlong is set to feature at right back after James Perch left training through illness.

“We sent Perchy home today. He looked dreadful and really looked ill. He might join us at the hotel tonight,” Holloway added. “We put Furlong in and my god he looked magnificent.”
