QPR boss Harry Redknapp is afraid the career of Alejandro Faurlin may be over.

The manager was keeping fingers crossed the stricken midfielder may yet recover from a second bad cruciate injury. But the experienced coach admitted the next six months will be in touch and go for the popular Argentine.

Faurlin pulled up lame during the 2-1 win over Derby in November to compound a first anterior cruciate ligament to the other leg as captain in the FA Cup clash with MK Dons in January 2012.

The omens are not promising, suggested a worried manager.

Agony: Faurlin is stretchered off against Derby

“That’s twice he’s had it now. Once you’ve had it…” and Redknapp left the sentence unfinished.

“Is he in danger? I hope not, but look at the player at Bolton, (Stuart) Holden and he’s just come back after being out for nearly two years. Hopefully Ali will come back fine, but it’s difficult and we have to wait and see.”

The 27-year-old has made 115 appearances in all competitions for Hoops since he was the subject of a controversial move from Argentine club Instituto in 2009 that owing to a murky transfer deal nearly cost Rangers promotion back to the Premier League in 2011.

However, fans took to his silky skills immediately and he was voted both supporters and players Player of the Year at the end of the 2009–10 season.

Faurlin took to twitter to give this reaction about his future prospects at QPR.
