Josh Scowen is confident QPR have enough ability for him to anticipate a winning return to Barnsley tomorrow night.

Scowen, a former pupil of Rs legend Gareth Ainsworth at QPR, made the journey from Oakwell to Loftus Road this summer on a free transfer.

The 24 year old is still well thought of in South Yorkshire after two years and more than 100 appearances for the Tykes.

That won't stop the midfielder trying to get one over on his former club, however, as the Rs look to put their disappointing draw with Burton Albion behind them.

New Hoop: Josh Scowen

“I’m looking forward to the game, it will be nice to go back there,” Scowen told QPR's official website. “Hopefully I’ll get a good reception. I’ve got plenty of great memories from my time there so it will be nice to see some familiar faces.

“Barnsley are a good side. We’ve got to make sure we go there and play the way we have been playing this season. If we can do that then I think we’re more than good enough to come away with the three points.

“We were frustrated in the dressing room afterwards (on Saturday) but that’s exactly what Burton came to do – frustrate us. I thought overall we played well but we just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net.

“They came for a point and, to be honest, they got what they deserved. We had a few half-chances but I think a draw was probably a fair result. But there’s a lot of positives for us going into tomorrow’s game and we’ll just keep going.”

Barn-stormer: Scowen in action for Barnsley

Scowen's form in the middle of the park has been one of the brighter points of the Rs' up and down start to the season, which he has put down to settling in quickly at Loftus Road.

“I have settled in rather easily here at QPR and it’s nice to come in to somewhere and be playing straight away,” he added. “I can only thank the gaffer and all the staff who have helped me, plus all the boys as well.

“They have all made it easy for me to settle straight in. I always knew I was capable, a lot of it was about physicality. I’m only little so the physical side of the game is something I have had to work on and improve on.”

Kazenga LuaLua could return to the Rs squad after being dropped for the Burton clash for failing to turn up on time for training on Friday.
