Ben Gladwin has returned to QPR from Bristol City with a worrying and persistent knee injury.

The loan deal with the Robins can't be formally terminated, but Gladwin is facing the prospect of surgery as well as a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

He returned to Loftus Road for treatment earlier this month and was given the all-clear to go back to City, who signed him for the rest of the season.

But Gladwin is far from pain free that has left QPR’s medical team scratching their heads.

Gladwin was s igned from Swindon Town last summer as part of a package deal with Massimo Luongo and returned there on loan in October after making just two league appearances for Hoops.

He was recalled soon after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was appointed manager so that the Dutchman could make up his own mind about his chances in the Championship.

The 23-year-old former Hayes & Yeading player and removals man featured in the FA Cup defeat against Nottingham Forest and removed himself to Ashton Gate straight after.
