QPR loanee Ebere Eze has been nominated for the League Two goal of the month for October for his goal for Wycombe at Cambridge United.

The Rangers man lashed an unstoppable half-volley into the top corner to give the Chairboys the lead at the Abbey Stadium.

He followed it up with another sensational strike to make it 2-0 as Wycombe went on to record a 3-1 win and was hailed as a special talent by boss and former QPR man Gareth Ainsworth.

He said: "The headlines will go to Eze. Ironically, the story is I worked with him yesterday and said 'you're due a goal, you don't have to put it in the top corner.' What does he go and do? He puts it in the top corner, so what do I know! Fantastic talent, and what a great character to have around.

"I love working with him. The older boys are rubbing off on him, they're complementing him, they're making sure he doesn't get too high and keeping his feet on the floor, but he's a talent and I think he's going to be opening a few eyes very soon. I'm just glad we've got him, at least until January.

And United boss Shaun Derry admitted that Eze's impact was the overall difference between the two sides.

"Goals change games but top-quality goals change games as well," he said. "I'm not too sure you're going to see two better strikes than what you've just seen this afternoon. They were incredible strikes.

"It changes the whole dynamic of the game. (It was) a game that was very close until that first goal and once again up until the second goal.”
