Robert Green has had four different voices telling him what to do at QPR in his three years with the club.
The keeper revealed the latest is a marked change from the man Hoops sacked last week.
The England international explained Chris Ramsey was a coach methodical in preparation as well as a student of tactics. Neil Warnock has simply urged Hoops to fix bayonets and come out screaming.
It didn’t entirely work after a 0-0 draw with Preston on Saturday (see gallery), but at least the keeper could point to a clean sheet.
“We’ve got a guy who’s charismatic,” Green said. “If you don’t know what Neil Warnock’s about, you haven’t been watching football for the last 20 years.
“Ever since I started playing, he has been a manager. Whatever limitations he’s had at a club, he’s always got everyone working as a team.
“He wanted us to go and express ourselves - particular the attacking players. After all, he keeps telling us he was a good winger.
“Chris was more about playing in a constructive manner; a student of tactics in that respect, you might say.
“But there’s more than one way to skin a cat. Neil’s had seven promotions, as I’m sure he’s told you. It worked in the past and it could work again.”
For all that, Rs drew a blank for the third successive match and Green now hopes fans will stick by the side - as they did throughout Saturday’s draw.
He said: “We didn’t get a shot against Derby last week, and Ale’s free-kick on Saturday just about reached goal. We tailed off after an hour with some people shy of 90 minutes fitness.
“So we ask the fans to stick with us. We all love free-flowing attacking and scoring - but sometimes it’s just not there.
“We’re immensely disappointed for Chris, because that means you’re not doing very well.
“The season has gone from one of consolidation to one of promotion all of a sudden, and that’s a difficult thing after you change your mind.”
