QPR goalkeeper Alex Smithies says that the Hoops aren't far away from hitting their stride on the road.

Ian Holloway's side travel to face Barnsley in the Championship this evening on a run of 11 games without a win away from home, but Smithies says that they're not far away from things clicking into place.

Speaking in Saturday's official matchday programme, he said: "I love it when the games come thick and fast, because it’s a great opportunity for us to rack up a number of points.

"I was speaking to someone at the training ground midweek, saying how we’re giving everyone a great game at home. We fancy ourselves to win all our homes games, while away from home we’ve not had a hiding. We’ve been beaten but not battered. It’s been by the odd goal and we’ve stayed in games.

"If things would have gone a little differently, we could have taken something away – like at Middlesbrough. Like I said, we had the chance that hit the post late on.

"That shows that we’re not far off away from home. If we can continue to build as we have been, I think we can have a good season."
