QPR can thank Leroy Fer for their latest acquisition - the sixth of a busy summer.

Rangers triggered Groningen's £1.7 million release clause for midfielder Tjaronn Chery and the attacking midfielder, a number 10 in anyone’s language, admitted he had a word with Rs Dutchman in residence.

'Playing in England has always been a dream of mine and having spoken to Leroy (Fer), he said that QPR is a good fit for me,' said Chery.

The power of hooped persuasion beat off the promise of better pay days from Aston Villa and moneybags Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli.

What does Tjaronn Chery - pronounced Charon - as in Church, listen to the pronunciation here, bring to the Rs party?

1 He scores important goals at vital times.

2 He bagged magnificent goals in the league, too, and developed a knack of notching from dead-ball situations.

3 He has the ability to unlock opponents with a killer pass.

4 He produces moments of magic that often light up even the dullest of occasions.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder was Gronigen’s stand-out performer last season with 15 goals (see video).

Playing in a second striker role, FCG's prized asset also chipped in with a further 10 assists.

As a result, he was one of only five players to play a part in more than 20 Eredivisie strikes last term and helped win a first international call-up.

Chery joins Ben Gladwin, Massimo Luongo, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Jamie Mackie and Sebastian Polter on the new boys’ roster.
