Grant Hall has come on in leaps and bounds this season - and it's in leaps and bounds the QPR defender gets out of the way of shots from his gaffer.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has still got it, says the ex-Tottenham player who looks set to be named player of the year for Hoops, even if his club have not enjoyed quite the same success.

In training, when Hasselbaink lets fly he reminds everybody of his glittering career for Holland, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and others. The same career that brought 197 top flight goals, as Hall saw first hand.

"Yeah, I'm old enough to remember when he played," Hall added. "Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink still has a rocket of a shot. Thankfully I haven’t been hit by one; you wouldn’t want to be hit by one of those."

Hall opened his scoring account for Hoops on Saturday in the 1-1 draw with Reading (see video above). But it's the back he agrees there's a forged link with Nedum Onuoha, who was his partner in the centre, until needs must meant the latter was switched to right-back.

There was a great moment on Saturday when both dived into block a goalbound shot from the Royals Simon Cox, and then low-fived each other as they got their feet smiling.

"We compliment each other really well. He’s been great for me, and I’m learning from him," Hall said.
