Pawel Wszolek’s first goal for QPR was the good news against Jaap Stam’s Reading at Loftus Road.

The young winger has reason to remember a delightful opener. But Daniel Williams’ equaliser means Rangers are still without a home win in the Championship since the opening day.

The game got shaken out of slumber by a glorious goal on 15 minutes.

Ariel Borysiuk's crunching tackle in midfield released Olamide Shodipo.

The youngster ignored the run of Tjaronn Chery and looked to have waited too long only to drift a dream pass into the run of Wszolek.

The Pole had much to do, but pulled the ball out of the air with one touch before an instant finish under Ali Al-habsi.

The lead though lasted just six minutes before Garath McCleary, who gave Joel Lynch a rough ride down the right in the early minutes, escaped down the opposite flank to deliver a cross expertly finished by Williams.

The hosts responded well, Lynch's header lacked power from a Chery cross, while Borysiuk wasn’t far away with a 25-yard fizzer after persistence from Sebastian Polter.

Tackle: James Perch takes on John Swift

Rangers were hampered when Grant Hall limped off with what looked like a calf strain and might have fallen behind when James Perch was caught dwelling on the ball by Roy Beerens - fortunately the resulting shot was deflected behind.

Reading began the brighter after the restart. But it was Rangers who spurned a glorious chance to re-take the lead 10 minutes in when Polter somehow headed wide unmarked from six yards out as he met Chery's corner.

After that, it was Alex Smithies who came to the fore with smart stops from first Beerens and the McCleary as Rangers found themselves on the ropes.

Wszolek tested Al-Habsi again at the other end before giving way to Idrissa Sylla as Rangers went to three strikers and Chery for the last 17 minutes.

Another of the subs Conor Washington almost skipped through, but it was Hoops who were hanging on in the dying minutes to claim the same result they did against the Royals in April.
