Grant Hall would like to revisit his fleeting partnership with Steven Caulker - but is only too aware QPR fortunes might depend on it.

Rs centre back and the £8m man on loan at Southampton were briefly together in Tottenham’s U21s at White Hart Lane three years ago.

Hall was an up-and-coming defender, Caulker was recovering from injury after finally breaking into Spurs first team in 2012.

Tunnel vision: Nico Yennaris of Arsenal (now Brentford) left, and Grant Hall of Spurs (now QPR) line up

The current Rs player believes he struck up an instant rapport, and would like to see it working for their current employers at Loftus Road.

However, Caulker has eyes on the Premier League that would make any return to a Championship side a tough call. Nonetheless, Hall has fingers crossed.

“I played with Steve a few times in the U21s when he was coming back from injury,” he said. “There is one game I recall particularly when, ironically, we played Southampton and struck up a good connection in a 0-0 draw.

“He helped me a lot in a short time. But a real connection? It only happens when you play a lot together.”
