QPR are interested in a loan move for Dwight Gayle to beef up a misfiring attack.

The Crystal Palace forward has been starved off chances in the Premier League this term, and would compliment the likes of Sebastian Polter or Jay Emmanuel-Thomas as part of a Rangers double spearhead.

Palace boss Alan Pardew insists he’s not interested in Rs star Charlie Austin - but the man with 10 goals in 16 starts could still broker an £8m move elsewhere during this month’s transfer window.

It would leave Rangers even lighter up top, with only 24 goals from the rest of the side all told in 27 games.

Despite the Austin no-go to south London, new Rs technical director Chris Ramsey has maintained good links with Palace - especially as he was eying up a coaching move there last season before taking the reins at Rangers as head coach.

Gayle has featured in only eight Prem League games for Palace - the last of them as a late sub in the 1-1 draw with Everton on December 7.
