QPR coach Chris Ramsey has revealed he intends to use Alejandro Faurlin sparingly.

The fans’ favourite has recovered from a third cruciate injury in as many seasons to earn a contract extension that director of football, Les Ferdinand, insists has nothing to do with sympathy, although Ramsey reckons he needs to be canny when and how he deploys the club’s longest serving player.

Faurlin was a 71st minute sub against Charlton on Saturday and came on to acclaim from Rs fans, but played no part in the 3-0 win over Yeovil on Tuesday.

“He’s had three major injuries and to comeback fro that was unbelievable - and it shows how he’s worked to get back where he needs to be,” Ramsey explained.

“But, yeah, we do have to use him sparingly. We have to make sure he doesn’t break down and sometimes you have different people in the squad for different things.

“He’s more of a ball player, and we need to use those skills when the occasion demands it.”
