Chris Ramsey insists Rob Green is as good as any other keeper in the Premier League this season - and sees no reason why his number one should be left out of the England set-up.

Roy Hodgson ran the rule over the likes of Harry Kane as Spurs beat Hoops 2-1 last Saturday, but the England manager would do well to have a second look at Green, according to Ramsey.

Breathtaking save: Green parries against Hull

“I think Rob’s been outstanding,” said the Rs coach. “He’s pulled us out of the fire especially the beginning of the season.

“Without him I don’t think we’d be anywhere near where we are. He’s been absolutely fantastic in the way he’s performed.

“What have we got? 22 points? He must be worth nine of them, easily, with some of his saves.

“He’s been the player of the season so far.”

The 35-year-old keeper himself recently told GetWestLondon recently he was too old to add to his 12 caps thus far - Ramsey disagrees.

“I think his performances have matched everybody else in the country.

“He would not want to have done those performances if we could win games more comfortably. But I think he’s easily been worth nine points, maybe more.”
