Chief executive Lee Hoos insists there is a limited budget to spend on new QPR faces - and it’s up to the head coach if he wants to offer big wages and gamble with fewer players.

The chief executive came from Burnley to Loftus Road where the Clarets did just that; spend big and make do with a small squad.

Hoos warned there was a big element of skill and luck in making it a success story for Sean Dyche’s Championship winning side.

“(Boss) Jimmy (Floyd Hasselbaink) can go with a squad that’s smaller but pay them more - that’s his call,” Hoos explained.

“It was a bit like that a Burnley.

“But there were two things at Burnley: a great reliance on sport science and the medical department to keep the players up and running and in good condition, and two: we didn’t get a lot on non preventable injuries: it was a combination of skill and luck.”

Rangers are currently in negotiations with £40k-a-week Junior Hoilett, who will have to accept less to say at Loftus Road, as well as defensive midfielder Karl Henry.

Another seven players including fans favourites Clint Hill and Alejandro Faurlin have already been shown the door.
