Les Ferdinand believes the appointment of a player analyst for the first time in the club’s history will reap QPR dividends in the summer transfer window.
In fact, the man responsible for a new strategy has actually taken a step sideways from match analyst to player analyst.
Andy Belk used to cough up statistics from games, now his duty is to produce data that will help win them, as Rs director of football explained at a recent fans forum.
“It’s one of the things we’ve done,” Ferdinand said. “Andy Belk used to be the match analyst, but he now looks purely at players we’re trying to bring into the club.
“Everyday we get tons of letters and emails from all around Europe.
“If we deem they might be worth a look we send the scouts out. Then if so, we go and have a look and if we like, we try and see how we can move that forward.
“It’s the first time in the club’s history we’ve had that in place (player analyst), and I think it’s working well.”
