QPR have taken former Birmingham City youngster Sam Deadfield on a two-week trial.

The striker impressed the watching Rs coaches by playing a starring role against their development side in a game against the FAB Academy last Friday.

Deadfield started the year as a scholar with Birmingham, and scored a goal which helped knock Liverpool's U18s out of the FA Youth Cup back in January.

He started out at Reading's academy, and has this season been playing for Beaconsfield SYCOB in the Southern League under former Royals youth coach Geoff Warner.

Deadfield also had a trial with QPR's west London rivals Brentford earlier in the season, but it was cut short by injury.
