QPR's plans to move to a purpose built new 40,000 capacity stadium at Old Oak near Wormwood Scrubs demands they have a successful team, according to Harry Redknapp.

The manager insists the project shows the club's ambition, but filling the new ground requires a return to the top flight.

He added: "Let's hope it can happen. But QPR have got to be in the Premier League if you're going to fill a stadium of 40,000.

"You need a good team because lots of clubs have built stadiums. West Ham will draw bigger crowds as a result of going to the Olympic stadium. So why not QPR as well?"
