Harry Redknapp has urged Tottenham to give Tim Sherwood the manager’s job permanently – and not be wooed by a ‘sexy’ foreign name.
The club’s coach has taken on the first team following the dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas with former manager Redknapp reckoning tongue-in-cheek, Spurs’ success was achieved was achieved by an Englishman – him.
Harry said: “I’m pleased to see Tim Sherwood having a crack at it. I hope Spurs don’t feel they’ve got to go out and get someone's who's foreign. The only success they've had in recent years is through an Englishman.
Owners think it's about big names, but it should be about ability. Maybe we should give him (Sherwood) a foreign or sexy name. I still think there's still enough quality for them to make the top four.”
But should his phone ring, Redknapp insists there’s no chance of a return to the club he managed for four years from 2008 to 2012.
“No. I’ve got a great job here and things are going well,” he said. “My only thoughts are with QPR.”
