Chris Ramsey hit the nail on the head when he said bad luck has a limit.

The Rangers coach watched his side harry, chase, shoot and tackle for an hour against a side vying for a top three finish.

But when push came to shove, Arsenal stepped up a gear to win 2-1 through goals from Olivier Giroud and a clincher from sub Alexis Sanchez - despite a great consolation goal from Charlie Austin eight minutes from the end.

It was Austin's 15th of a productive season, but Ramsey reckoned Rs need goals from other sources if they are to save themselves from the drop.

He said: "Little bits of detail have cost us tonight. I do feel genuinely sick for the players because I thought they gave everything."

"We can’t keep relying on Charlie. It was a fantastic strike and he played well again, but we need more players to contribute."

"The problem is in a league of this quality you can’t keep being unlucky. You can’t always be sorry that you’ve lost a game."

"You don’t get anything for being second. At the end of the day it’s about the points."
