Harry Redknapp has ditched plans for a vital knee operation.

The 67-year-old QPR boss was expected to have surgery on a painful right knee that when operated on last year saw him hobble on crutches for six weeks - and then occasionally revert to them in the weeks that followed.

Get West London sport understands the troublesome knee has received alternative medical treatment, but not the full-blown operation.

Speculation during the season suggested Harry might quit management if the knee continued to be a concern, although the manager has always refuted it.

When asked in March whether an impending op might impede plans for this season, Harry waved away concerns.

“It’s not as if I have to chase around the country after new players,” he said. “Most of that sort of thing needs phone calls, and I’m never far away from the phone.”
