Harry Redknapp has been told there’s no money to spend in January to boost QPR’s survival bid.

The R’s boss made a whistle-stop trip to Kuala Lumpur this week to discuss his transfer plans with owner Tony Fernandes.

However, Redknapp will have to rely on short-term loans to boost his firepower, with LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane among the players on his radar.

He said: “We’re not looking to spend. If there’s a loan or two out there we would be interested, that’s where we are at.

“We spent some money in the summer, so we’re not that far short. Hopefully we can find another striker to add to the ones we’ve got already, so that’s an area we are looking at.

“In January it’s always difficult to find players. There will be someone out there that can come and help us.”

Redknapp has been linked with moves for Stoke striker Peter Crouch and Toronto’s Jermain Defoe.

However, the Loftus Road chief has played down speculation linking him with a reunion with the duo.

Redknapp added: “He [Crouch] belongs to Stoke and we’ve never discussed that with them. He’s a good player and they want to keep him, so that’s not a goer really.

“Jermain’s an excellent player but I don’t know if he fits in our budget.”

QPR are boosted by the return of Steven Caulker for Saturday's basement battle with West Brom, but Mauricio Isla misses out after returning to Chile to be with his pregnant partner.
