QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink reckoned the reason Tjaronn Chery missed a sitter that would have beaten Wolves - was because the striker hit the ball too well.

Chery thumped the post while in acres of space, dead centre and 12 yards out with three minutes left and the score remained 1-1, but his gaffer was none too enamoured with a second half that belied Rs quality in the first.

Hasselbaink said: "If there's someone you want for a chance like that it's Chery. I think he hit it too well.

"The performance was very good overall, and we spoke about the second half that we didn't do the fundamentals as well as the first.

"When that second goal doesn't come you need to keep focus, shape and all that stuff. But there's no need to feel sorry for ourselves."

Warm up: Seb Polter before the game

Rangers were undone three minutes into the second half after Sebastian Polter gave Hoops a lead in the second minute.

A wicked three-touch deflection took the ball past Alex Smithies for the Wolves equaliser and changed the face of the game.

After that, the same zing from the forwards and Polter went AWOL.

"You're going to get deflections every week," the manager added.

"It says something about Sebastian (that Wolves dealt with him better in the second half). He needs to be a fitter and stronger.

"He hasn't played a lot of football this year. So the sixth game is always going to be harder than the first four.

"It's a process for him, and he's going to have to do it again at Forest on Tuesday.

"As a team, we aren't there yet to be able to win in the last minute."
