IT WAS a slip of the tongue – but QPR boss Harry Redknapp has David Beckham on his mind.

Harry was asked at Friday's press conference about former Spurs winger David Bentley, now back from a stint in Russia with FC Rostov.

The gaffer was happy to big up Bentley as an exciting player, but having also revealed short-term deals from the MLS in the States was a target area for new recruits, the manager got tongue tied by mentioning Beckham (pic), rather than Bentley.

A red-faced Redknapp clapped his hands to his mouth in mock anguish and brought the conference to a close, with maybe both the B's - Beckham is currently winding up his contract at LA Galaxy, headed for Loftus Road in the gaffer's mind come January.

The manager said: “David Bentley’s a good player. It shows he must have wanted to play football to go to Russia.

“He could have stayed and took his money. I had no problems with him at Tottenham – he just couldn’t get in the team.

“Yeah, that David Beckham’s a good player.”
