Nedum Onuoha is a ‘Rolls-Royce’ defender but Ian Holloway wants a whole fleet of limos.

The in-form Rangers skipper was outstanding in the 0-0 draw at Leeds at the weekend and continues to lead by example.

Holloway is convinced his captain is still of Premier League quality and wants his colleagues to match the high standards that Onuoha sets week in, week out.

“My whole team were so good at Leeds but Nedum is an absolute Rolls-Royce,” he said.

“His capabilities physically are immense. They are still Premier League.

“What we’ve got to do is make sure that we keep nurturing that and keep bringing that forward.

“We need to keep actually getting people around him that are as consistent as he is.”

QPR’s gameplan at Elland Road was not to press anything forward of the halfway line and let the Leeds defenders have possession in areas that would not hurt them.

Ollie was most enthused, however, by the times that his side defended on the front foot- led by the former Manchester City man.

“There were times at Leeds when we stepped on and Darnell won things on the edge of the box,” he said.

“I don’t like back-foot defending, I want us to have more confidence to be a front-foot side.

“Nedum is epitomising it. He did the stepping forward, Hally did it, Lynchy did it.

“I can’t thank them enough.”
