Ian Holloway has been told to work with what he’s got rather than expect to rebuild in January.

The new QPR man in charge compared his Rs second coming as manager to his time at Blackpool six years ago when he miracled the Seasiders into the Premier League.

Then, after a terrific Wembley play-off triumph, Ollie was able lash out and buy the missing jigsaw bits.

This time with Rs, he’s got all the pieces he’s going to get - he just has to make them fit.

The manager reckons chopping and changing systems to go with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s sacking has blown an ill wind through Loftus Road, but even so, he needs to get a return out of the summer outlay that has brought little reward for a near £7m investment.

“The hardest thing for a manager when you've taken over something that's changed once, twice, maybe three times and you end up with players unsure whether they're going to fit in and play,” he said.

“I was fortunate at Blackpool.

“I knew what Blackpool had and I added the positions. I've not been able to do that. I've been asked to look at what we've got, build their confidence, see where they can play and get them doing that.

“I'll try and get us moving that ball and get us comfortable on the ball. I know how tough the challenge is but I'm going to try.”
