Chris Ramsey has made Steve Gallen first team QPR coach in the same breath he made sure all vestiges of the past were wiped clean.

Gallen, brother of Kevin, an Rs hero for 13 years from 1994, has been at the club himself since 1997 while working in the academy.

But as Gallen takes up his new role under head coach Ramsey, goalkeeping coach Kevin Hitchcock has been let go.

The former Chelsea keeper was originally a Mark Hughes appointment in January 2012, following a spell at Fulham under Sparky, and was kept on when Harry Redknapp took over - until now.

All gone: Harry Redknapp, Joe Jordan, Kevin Bond - and now Hitchcock

QPR Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, explained the changes to the club’s site.

“It’s a natural progression for Steve to join the First Team coaching staff,” he said.

“He's been at QPR for a number of years and understands the fabric of the club and what we are trying to do here. The fact he's worked with a number of our younger players, who we are keen to see progress over the coming years, is a bonus."

Brother: Kevin Gallen

Gallen’s role with the Elite Development Squad will be taken over by Paul Hall.

Hall has previously been an assistant to Paul Furlong with the Under-18 age group, but will now take on the EDS role.

Academy Manager Perry Suckling, a former keeper and goalkeeping coach, will step in on a short term basis to replace Hitchock, prior to an outside full-time appointment in the near future.
