QPR transfer deals are set to take a back seat until chairman Tony Fernandes can turn attention to the club.

The distraught Air Asia airline boss is in Surabaya, Indonesia, co-ordinating the aftermath of the shocking crash of Flight QZ8501 - the first in the airline’s history since the multi-millionaire took over in 2001.

Rs boss Harry Redknapp reckoned he had not spoken to his chief, nor had any intention of doing so while Fernandes was assisting stricken relatives on the other side of the world.

Rs need another forward to go with the expected arrival of Mauro Zarate on loan from West Ham, and Fernandes has always been a hands-on chairman. Redknapp agreed there are more important things than football right now.

He said: “It’s been difficult, and it’s a difficult time.

“So many people lost their lives and it was dreadful. Tony will have other things on his mind and I haven’t bothered him with football. I’ll need to speak to him at some stage, but there are far more important things to worry about.

“I haven’t rung. I sent him messages, but not about football.”
