Bobby Zamora is a rejuvenated man says his QPR boss - thanks to a hat-trick of reasons.

The 33-year-old striker was on his way out of Loftus Road towards the end of March according to Harry Redknapp. But the famous last-minute goal by Zamora that earned Rangers a return to the Premier League at Wembley made all the difference.

A 2013-14 campaign of niggling hip injuries left the former Fulham forward making ‘plans’ elsewhere, as Harry put it.

But it wasn't only the Derby goal that turned Zamora's fortunes around, but the advent of becoming a fans’ favourite as well as taking the captain’s armband.

Bobby was out of contract, but that Wembley goal did his confidence a power of good," Redknapp said.

“He feels the fans love him now, and that’s also good for his confidence. I made him captain and he gave me a captain’s performance, and he enjoyed the challenge in that.

"He’s always been a good player. When he was at Fulham he was a fantastic player in my opinion.”
